Gone but not forgotten Edgar Slater

GBNF/EdgarSlater.jpg

Edgar Slater - Edgar, who as stated in Barney Brennan's obituary, passed away not very long after Barney and so the Lee Brigands team suffered two sad losses very close together.  Edgar was a bit older than Barney but he had also been associated with Steve Stenson's Lee Brigands quiz team for many years and was another one who could be described as a stalwart of both the quiz team and the local quiz scene and community.

Edgar was a much more regular player than Barney and managed to make 77 Five Towns' Quiz League appearances over only six seasons, so you can tell how much he liked his regular competitive quizzing.

I don't know a whole lot about Edgar but he was similarly a very inoffensive and likeable chap and his departure from this mortal coil makes him missed by a lot of people and I do remember that he had a very well attended funeral in Normanton, which clearly is a measure of the man and his popularity.

Edgar Slater - died 2007.
